FLOWER IVY

Homepage

The Flower ivy household is located in the village Bršno, 10km from Nikšić. The village got its name by the ivy flower that spreads through the village and symbolizes love and faithfulness until death. If you head to the village in spring and summer, along the winding road up the hill, you will enjoy the greenery from which the red roofs of rare houses peek like mushrooms.

The Flower ivy household is in the center of the village. You will be greeted at the gate by a friendly hostess with a smile and a story. It is her desire to share the beauty of nature, of the old house equipped for living, the orchard and the garden with organic cultivation with guests who love peace and harmony with nature. The yard is spacious and with lots of flowers and the 64m² apartment is tastefully decorated and equipped for guests. The food is homemade - mainly from own production (some is bought from neighbors), but the method of preparation is always traditional. New fruit plantations behind the house lure you into a comfortable lounger where you can spend time alone or in a chosen company, in harmony with the nature that surrounds you and the delicious fruit trees that call you to harvest. You will only hear the buzzing of bees, the singing of birds, the trill from the cage where turkeys and chickens are raised and the barking of a tame dog running around. If you want to learn to do some of the household chores, feel free to say so - the hosts will do their best to show you all, as it is in accordance with the expressed characteristics (warmth and hospitality) of the people of this region.

In the vicinity of the household, it is possible to walk, ride a bicycle, hike on marked trails and visit cultural monuments. You must try dogberry juice and pick an ivy flower while in Bršno!

LOCATIONS

The monastery of St. Luka in Župa

The monastery of St. Luka in Župa was built, based on some historical sources, in the 13th century. Throughout history, it played a very positive role and was a significant factor in the educational, political and cultural life of this region and the wider area, as well. Dedicated to the Holy Apostle and evangelist Luka, the monastery was truly the center of Župa, Bršno, Ozrinići, Dragovoljići... The first location of the monastery was Carine in the town Orašje, below Gradina hill. Tradition says that in the 15th century, large piles of stone fell from Gradina and destroyed a good part of the monastery. The monks then gathered and agreed to build a new monastery on the other side of Gračanica below Vodički Vrh. The parishioners then moved the monastery stone by stone to where it is today. Today, the monastery with its new guest houses is gaining new appearance and is becoming a place where a large number of tourists from the country and abroad come. The sisterhood of this monastery within the complex has workshops for making pottery, icons and other objects and souvenirs.
