MONTENEGRO is located in the southeast of Europe, on the Balkan Peninsula. It has an ideal geographical position - only a few hours' flight away from the most important European cities. The territory of Montenegro covers the surface of approximately 13,812km². It borders Croatia (14km) to the west, Bosnia and Herzegovina to the north (225km), Serbia to the east (203km), Albania to the south (172km) and is bordered by the Adriatic Sea from Italy. The length of the coast is 293.5km. In 1991, it was declared an ecological country. It is divided into three regions: southern, central and northern Montenegro. Regions differ in terms of development, geomorphological composition, climate and population.
NIKŠIĆ belongs to the central-northern region. The nature of Nikšić municipality is characterized by many peculiarities. The municipality of Nikšić is the area of the most typical area of karst in the world. The large area of 2065km², which the municipality occupies, is the reason for the separation of several relief units: deep karst plateaus, valleys and high mountains and surfaces. The lowest point in height is 30m above sea level on the Bjelopavlići valley, and the highest point is over 2000m above sea level in the north-eastern part of the municipality where there are rows of high mountains in the Dinaric direction.

The Nikšić field is geomorphologically and hydrologically the most interesting field in the karst of the Dinarides and in the world. There are several smaller fields, hills and about 900 pits and hot springs in the area of the field.

The natural and anthropogenic values of the municipality of Nikšić increasingly attract visitors and tourists who, far from the hustle and bustle of the city, find peace and satisfaction in nature, the hospitality of rural households, healthy life, traditional cuisine and preserved customs and traditions.
